Mall of Asia Blocking Practice PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday, I was at the Mall of Asia to familiarize myself with the rink just before the competition kicks in. I arrived at around 12pm and the rink was crowded with skaters from Southmall, Megamall, and of course Mall of Asia. Most of the coaches I've seen from Megamall are there. And there were hockey players too. Plus the public skaters. All-in-all, I couldn't do a complete rountine without the worries of stumbling into a kid or three.

Racquel, one of the adult skaters at Megamall, adviced me not take upon myself on practicing at MoA (Mall of Asia) during that time. It was a government-declared public holiday (Bonifacio Day was on the 30th of November but they declared Monday a holiday regardless).

Since it's the only time my coach will be available at MoA and since this is my first skating competition, I decided to go there and know where I should be positioned, my line boundaries, where I should be facing, if the maneuvers will still be synchronized with my music, etc.

Zamboni was at 2pm. They've fixed the water fountain (last time I went there it was broken). I was surprised though that all that chairs are now cutted low. They were black metal-gratted benches about half a foot high.

Rental price are still the same. Unlimited ice time at 300 pesos from 10am to 12pm and 380 pesos from 12pm onwards. Locker rentals are at 30 pesos. Unlike at Megmall, there's a designated staff who handles the checking in and out of your things. This could prevent people from tampering the locker but at the same time, it is also a hassle especially if there's a line of people checking in and out their things. If you are a frequent skate, you can avail the long-term rental for 350 pesos a month.
