The Brook/ Creek/ Springs Varsity Ice Hockey Team (BCS) defeated Cinco Ranch In a hard hitting slugfest Friday night. CS scored first with only 2 minutes left in the first period. Scott Mackey took it in on a breakaway from the defense and laid it in the side of the net with an assist from Keith Wagner. As Wagner is probably the most massive guy in local Varsity Hockey it seemed he was clearing the path for Mackey. The game was fast and spirited. Penalties were drawn in a 2-1 ratio by BCS as they defended the net from any and all attack. BCS scored again on a breakaway consisting of Reagan Terrel and Tyler Reith in the second period. Reith fed the puck to Terrel at half ice and he carried across the blue line with a defenseman in tow. Shaking the defender Terrel found an opening on the upper right hand corner of the net. Cinco managed to squeeze a goal late in the third period by Cody Heiser . This was a hard to believe situation as the net was knocked off before the goal was made and it still counted. This was the call of the officials as the circumstances surrounding the play landed another player in the Penalty Box. This pumped up the game adrenalin again with only a minute to play. With five skaters on the ice for Cinco Ranch, three skaters for BCS with two in the penalty box, the last minute of play was a defensive posture for BCS. They held well defensively for the last minute and brought home the bacon when the buzzer sounded. The win gives BCS a 1-1 mark in the early season going. On Friday BCS takes on Clear Lake at 7 p.m. at Space City Ice Station.
