MICHAEL Dimalanta and Elizabeth Stern topped their respective events Sunday in the 2008 Philippine National Championship Figure Skating at the International Skating Rink at the Mall of Asia.
A total of 23 skaters, including five Filipino-Americans, saw action in five finals events of the tournament sponsored by Pepsi, Power Mac Center, Mossimo and Phil Star. Alyssa Kate Comia ruled the Juvenile-Ladies with an impressive score of 39.20. Second place went to Shaira Myron Salardo (37.67) and while Dianne Riesgo submitted 34.07 points to finish third. Jules Vince Alpe conquered the Juvenile-men's side, while Janelle Santos won the Intermediate level, with Julia Maria Ignacio and Ysabel Viktoria finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Paulina Michelle Ong took the Novice level, beating out Chelcea Jo Mahinay (second) and Kathe-rine Louise Miller (62.23, third). In the Juniors-Men, Dikki John Martinez was tops, with John Samuel Minas settling for second place. Katherine Dano lorded it over in the Juniors-Ladies where she beat Kathryn Voctory Magno (2nd) and Mikaela Victoria Lopez (3rd).

Dimalanta shone brightest among the male participants while Stern turned out to be the most impressive in women's side of the event sanctioned by Philippine Skating Union and organized by SM.
